AST™ has designed a power system to run all the components in the safe room for a minimum of 7 days should the local power plant shut down or have a power outage.
The power system consists of 8 deep cycle valve regulated lead acid batteries, wired in 2 banks of 4 batteries each to ensure continuous power should there be an unexpected electrical problem.
The batteries used by AST™ are the same type used in the telecommunications industry for their back-up power systems.
These batteries are maintenance free and sealed, which makes them very safe for in-home use.
AST™ includes a laptop computer with the safe room and has programmed it so the batteries can be monitored at anytime to insure all are functioning correctly.
The batteries will be installed in a completely enclosed battery box that is provided with circuit breakers, cooling fans, plugs for attaching all components in the safe room as well as a battery charger that will continuously keep all batteries charged to full capacity so they are ready for use in case of a terrorist attack.
